Coaches

Melissa first found her joy working with individuals with intellectual disabilities at 16 while volunteering with the local Special Olympics swim team, eventually becoming a coach. Fast forward nearly 20 years later, Melissa has started Infinite Abilities, the area's first fitness program geared towards kids and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Melissa received her Masters Degree from Simmons College in Boston in Severe Special Education. From there she spent 8 years in the classroom working closely with families and service providers.

After starting a family she wanted to pivot in her career to combine her two passions, fitness and empowering individuals with disabilities.

When Melissa isn’t at the gym she is usually chasing her son and daughter around, they sometimes make a guest coach appearance.

Melissa is certified as an Adaptive and Inclusive Coach through the Adaptive Training Academy and certified in Functional Training for Autism through Indiana University. She also has her Crossfit Level 1 certification. For the past three years, she has been coaching adaptive athletes, working closely with nonprofits, and building Infinite Abilities.

Coach Laura

Laura has her Masters Degree of Education in Counseling and has worked in Special Education for several years before becoming a stay at home mom with her two boys. She has been coaching at Bona Fide Fitness for 6 years and volunteering off and on with the adaptive program since it started in 2020. Laura is passionate about how important exercise is for an individual both physically and mentally. She has really enjoyed watching the adaptive athletes grow, try new things, and push themselves.

Fisher has been volunteering with Coach Melissa since 2020 and in 2024 we made it official. He has extensive training experience and brings great energy to the classes that he coaches. He has an eye for modifying movements for our members and loves to see them succeed in trying new things.

Coach Maura is a physical therapist with 20 years of experience in outpatient orthopedics.
She started doing CrossFit in 2020 for stress relief and exercise during the pandemic and fell in love with its application to all levels and transfer of skills to improved functional mobility.
When she is not working, Maura enjoys running and playing with her 5 and 7 year old girls. She is very excited to join the team and to help promote inclusion and well being for all individuals through her love for exercise, as well as helping maximize proper body mechanics and form to prevent injuries.
